Does a strong resume in U sports turn into a CFL career? Has anyone reached out or tried to interview Faulds for a job? I would imagine he might be referring to this.
Dunk's story says: "Despite interest from Canadian Football League franchises, the 41-year-old plans to stay in U Sports long term." No attribution for the statement; the likelihood is that Faulds himself claimed to have received interest. Without independent corroboration, no way of knowing if that's true.
If I had to guess, some CFL team might have offered Faulds an offensive asst. or RB coach kinda gig. Doubt that would pay near what he gets from Laurier, plus a fraction of the football decision making input. Lots of ex-CFL players with American passports hold quite the number of CFL position coach jobs. Don't see very many successful and very experienced in Canadian football coaches from U Sports backgrounds getting CFL gigs; nor many new NCAA successful coaches getting CFL jobs. A lot of recycling of same olds.
If Faulds was offered a coaching job as you described and he is in fact making more as a U Sports HC then good for him, subsequently if an American decides to take a lower paying CFL assistants job to begin working through the ranks I have no issue with it either.

I'm noticing more & more Canadians filling these roles so I am not sure that I agree with him. Maybe if he started out as a QB Coach, he could work his way up into an Offensive Co Ordinator.
I agree. He seemed to be complaining about not getting a chance in the CFL while acknowledging that he has had a couple of offers (if I am remembering the article correctly). The reality is that he isn't likely just going to walk into an OC or HC job in the CFL and would have to work his way up, as most CFL coaches do. Of course, some will say that he should just be able to have a chance at an OC or HC job in the CFL immediately due to his success at the USports level.

There is a real advantage to saying in USports or the NCAA, as you get a pension and very good compensation (at least for head coaches in USports). Also, if you have kids and they are getting to be university age, they may qualify for free or minimal tuition at the school. There tends to be more stability in the university ranks than at the pro level.

And if your not a GOB you get extra draft choices:

I know, GOBs don't care about the draft. :(

I can already see which CFL teams are going to be bad this season by the projected depth charts that 3downnation has been putting out.

We shall see.

Again - on paper - the new EE look like they could easily start 11 Canadians for this coming season; that would be GOB mind-blowing.

Good on the Bombers & BC for earning those bonus draft picks - hope they can be smart with them.

Edmonton now has a Canadian-born head coach, as do Winnipeg, Saskatchewan, and Ottawa. That's almost half the teams now with a Canadian-born head coach so, presumably, they shouldn't have an issue starting Canadians.

As far as i can tell - the Stumps have one Canadian coach (receivers) on their staff of 10 coaches.

The Ticats just added just retired James Tuck to make 2 Canadians out of 11 on their staff (?)

The 2 basement dwelling, loser teams - I'll guess they are going to have "ratio problems" this coming season finding 7 only Canadian starters.
