Kinda funny too how all the Canadian trained QB talent that gets $hite on or ignored by the CFL seems to have no trouble getting to play in European leagues.ArgoRavi wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2026 9:52 pmTrue about Mayala, Sindani, and Liam Dobson and I am 99% sure that's why Paris Shand was released after signing 2 days before in the UFL.OV Argo wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2026 5:07 pmUmm, no. That was because none /zero/zip/nadda were even invited to try out for those US teams and cause the Americans in charge of those teams either never heard of Canadian talent or else were CFL old boys who loved a chance to ignore them = gee what a shocker. Unless it was a big work permit issue and unreported or swept under the rug at the time.gilthethrill wrote: ↑Mon Mar 30, 2026 7:08 pm
Honestly I have no clue. Could this be why no Canadian players signed with CFL US expansion teams in the 90's?
Kinda interesting how the CFL welcomes American players with open arms - to the tune of a majority of CFL rosters; but Canadians wanting to play down there can have problems; pretty sure Canadian receivers Hergy Mayala & Rich Sindani both had trouble getting work cleared to play in the X or U or whatever the FL it was a couple of years ago ?

To be fair, European leagues are a far lower calibre of play compared to the CFL.OV Argo wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2026 12:43 amKinda funny too how all the Canadian trained QB talent that gets $hite on or ignored by the CFL seems to have no trouble getting to play in European leagues.ArgoRavi wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2026 9:52 pmTrue about Mayala, Sindani, and Liam Dobson and I am 99% sure that's why Paris Shand was released after signing 2 days before in the UFL.OV Argo wrote: ↑Sun Apr 12, 2026 5:07 pm

That's not the point. Point is Canadian QBs are welcome there, but not here in our own country; whereas American QBs have all the opportunity in the world here as the GOBs bend over backwards to invite everyone of them they can find to try-out; but Elgersma can't get to work in the US ?

Re: UFL 2026
Yesterday Louisville traded starting QB & long time Argos neg lister Jason Bean was traded to DC, where he will most certainly serve as a backup. With his playing time obviously diminished, I would not be surprised to see him request his release from the struggling league much like Max Duggan did last season.
Re: UFL 2026
Birmingham's starting QB, Matt Corral, was traded also. If Taylor Elgersma had been able to obtain a work permit, he likely would have gotten snaps with the Stallions.gilthethrill wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2026 10:05 am Yesterday Louisville traded starting QB & long time Argos neg lister Jason Bean was traded to DC, where he will most certainly serve as a backup. Today the league, I mean Dallas traded backup QB Luis Perez to St Louis to help prop that team up nearing the halfway point of the season.
Re: UFL 2026
Perez, whom I am not particularly high on, is on the Argos' negotiation list.gilthethrill wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2026 7:27 pm Today the league, I mean Dallas traded backup QB Luis Perez to St Louis to help prop that team up nearing the halfway point of the season.

Why am I not surprised that you have one. I looked it up for you. It is worth $5-$15.
