But shatto....Willie Jefferson should have been named Grey Cup MVP that day!!

If Arbuckle continues to be outperformed by Horn and Guercio, they will absolutely demote him. I suspect Arbuckle will have a much shorter leash than last year, because we already know he won't lead the team to the playoffs if Kelly goes down.
The notion that Arbuckle was to blame for missing the playoffs last year seems rather fanciful. So does the idea that two guys who looked OK for a quarter each against 3rd- and 4th-stringers are outperforming the guy who won a Grey Cup 18 months ago. But we'll see, won't we?
I'm not saying he was the sole reason the Argos missed the playoffs, but has he ever led a team to the playoffs?

I started my post with the word "If."

I hope I am wrong but we will see. If he continues to not play as well as the other QB's, then yes it's obvious like any team, the Argos will move on to another QB. That's kind of how football works. You don't go with your worst QB.
I like your thinking here, weaken the Argonauts QB room by removing the best backup QB in the league who by the way bailed the team out and won the Grey Cup not so long ago, give me a break!

You began your post with "If Arbuckle continues to be outperformed," and you're doubling down on that. What exactly is this assessment based on? One quarter of preseason football he played against second-stringers, and one quarter each played by the other two guys against third- and fourth-stringers? If either of those guys had completely lit it up that day, I could see some folks racing to the conclusion that they're deserving of promotion, but let's be clear -- Horn completed FIVE passes for 72 yards, with a badly thrown ball that was picked. Guercio went 3-of-4 for 48 yards, and rushed twice for 15 yards. Not exactly the second coming of Doug Flutie.

Arbuckle has never led his team to the playoffs, but he has played well in a playoff game and in a Grey Cup game. And he has started dozens of CFL games. This stuff matters to coaches whose jobs are always on the line. But again, we'll see.

I'd almost think you were engaging in clickbait if I didn't know better.

As Paul said, we'll see. What I am saying is more than possible and happens in football. It's not like I am making some ridiculous statement and presenting it as a matter of fact, such as "we don't need Kelly. Cameron Dukes can lead this team just fine."

"Arbuckle continues to be outperformed by Horn and Guercio" is not a true statement based on the two camp days I attended. I saw a wide gulf between Arbuckle and the other two. Hopefully those guys develop into something more, but claiming Arbuckle is being outperformed defies the current reality.

I don't think Arbuckle is going anywhere.

Arbuckle gives the whole organization the confidence that comes with having an experienced and proven QB2 in the fold.

But at the same time everyone, maybe even Arbuckle himself, is hoping he doesn’t see the field very much in 2026.

If this is what it takes to get some energy going around here, I have plenty more opinions that will no doubt be unpopular...

Clickbait!? Do you think I am making money off how many replies I get? I don't have a signature with hyperlinks on it.

I'm not sure if you know what that means.

One last point from me on Arbuckle. He threw those 4,500 yards last year running from constant pressure. He was the Argos leading rusher for most of the season. He is the Ying to Kellys Yang in the QB room. His experience is needed on this squad. They have the pieces to contend once again, and he will be needed at some point.

I don’t know about clickbait, but I'll take a lifetime subscription to Bait Magazine any day.
