I hope the absence of Argos staff isn't due to budget cuts.shatto wrote: ↑Wed Mar 26, 2025 12:04 pm I see Ali Saad did a Pro Day. It is interesting to compare his results to those of Von Muehldorfer, Von M results were way better than Saad's. Four CFL team reps were present ---but no rep from the Argos. I wonder if more CFL teams will now be interested in Von M come the draft.

Re: Combine time
CFL combine prospects for every team.
I like the Argo picks.
RB Keanu Yazbeck, REC Hakeem Harris, DL Darien Newell
I think Yazbeck will be a special teams demon in his first year. I think Newell will however make a NFL practice roster.
As far as the suggested U Sports QBs, I think its wishful thinking on Marshall's part, or intentional CFL propaganda that U Sports
QBs are given a chance in the CFL.

Newell is unlikely to be drafted in the first couple of CFL rounds if he gets any sort of decent NFL call; if he does not get that call, he will be gone before the Argos get to pick in the first round IMO; the Argos could still go DT with their first pick from amongst a few other top DT prospects.
Yazbeck will likely still be available mid to late rounds IMO - love to see the Argos get him.
Harris is a big target who tested well - might be a nice pick. Argos could use more size in their receiving corps IMO.
Desjardins or Senecal could possibly get drafted late rounds - as a sort of joke / feel good story / extra arm for TC - they will get ZERO real chance to compete in a CFL TC with either of Ottawa or Montreal; the only faint hope for them at this point is with the EE who have only 3 QBs on their current roster, are HC'd by a new Canadian guy and whose GM has gone out and signed lots of Canadian talent this off-season.
Re: Combine time
Senecal to the EE sounds great! Lets hope it happens. Two evasive Canadian QBs.OV Argo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 29, 2025 11:43 amj-ski wrote: ↑Sat Mar 29, 2025 11:19 am CFL combine prospects for every team.

Theirs no need to bulk up then. Menard and Kongbo both played in the 260s.OV Argo wrote: ↑Tue Mar 25, 2025 10:57 amTi-Catsfan89 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 25, 2025 8:29 amTired of this notion that a Canadian needs to bulk up and play DT. IMO there will be some good D-linemen available in the mid to later rounds; so they could go there early (say 2nd pick for a DT) and still get one (DT or DE) in later rounds; one guy who might be available later is Queens DE Silas Hubert (2 time OUA all-star at DE), who at 6-5 265, posted some very good athletic testing #s - has the DE experience but also the size/ frame to bulk up some to play DT possibly = maybe a guy who could play some both at DE & DT in the rotation.
It's a GOB cliche about Canadian players (and you see CFL media "experts" parroting this stuff all the time); but meanwhile American DTs like Micah Johnson can play at 270 or less and nobody ever says a peep about them being "under-sized". Good ole Jim Barker opined that Jesse Lumsden should be played at fullback in the CFL back in the day.
Shatto is correct on my idea that Hubert could play at both DT & DE in the CFL (wether he bulks up a bit or not) - just as David Menard and Jon Kongbo have done effectively in the CFL - a versatile player who can play some at both positions should be valued ?

I didn't say he must "need" to do so; just that he has the 6-5 frame to easily add more weight if need be. He could probably play reps at both right away, but his experience is more at DE.
Re: Combine time
Argos draft position now: #s 7, 16, 30, 37
Like to see them go, with those first 4 picks: best safety available (should / maybe be able to get one of Findlay or Beauchemin); DT (or maybe DE); receiver, RB

Re: Combine time
The comments on Ethan Jordan usually note his size ( 5' 10 1/2"and 177lbs) as a detriment. Dave Ungerer is smaller (5'9" and 171 lbs) and his Pro day 40 was a hand timed 4.63 compared to Jordan's e timed 4.44. And---Ungerer has been a valuable asset to the Argos. I'm not saying Jordan is going to be a huge success from day one but is this another case of CFL folks under estimating the potential of a U Sport WR? They certainly have a history of doing that.
Re: Combine time
Wouldn't mind at all the Argos getting to draft a speedster like Jordan; but they have more pressing needs in the early rounds and Jordan likely gone by mid rounds ? CFL "folks" under-estimating a lot of top U Sports talent = who knew ?shatto wrote: ↑Thu Apr 10, 2025 10:56 pm The comments on Ethan Jordan usually note his size ( 5' 10 1/2"and 177lbs) as a detriment. Argos need to add more Canadian talent all over - pretty sparse Canadian content on the roster now and the losses of Metchie, Robbie Smith, Adeleke, Adeboboye, Sopik, Mackellar, Nield & Sindani loom large IMO.

Re: Combine time
The return of Ciraco and the acquisitions of Doxtator, Mayala, Varga & Judge do help with the losses you mentioned OV. The team needs to replenish Canadian talent on D for sure, and fortunately it appears this draft will be able to provide the opportunity to do just that.OV Argo wrote: ↑Thu Apr 10, 2025 11:12 pmWouldn't mind at all the Argos getting to draft a speedster like Jordan; but they have more pressing needs in the early rounds and Jordan likely gone by mid rounds ?
