I counted at least 5 times - maybe more - last night where Ford could have taken off for decent to good to big yardage but he ended up forcing throws that were inaccurate or ill advised, including that late horrible pick; he needs to learn to move and get out of trouble way sooner, and then run if a receiver is not wide open; that's if he was to run standard in the pocket CFL offence; an OC with brains would design a varied offence that would also include roll-outs and QB draws and RPOs that feature a good RB (this Rountree guy is useless but has the right passport for a Scotty M type). He will go nowhere fast as a CFL QB coached up by same old / standard look CFL OCs who have no clue how to deploy a superior mobile run threat QB. Ford had zero rushing yards in the first half last night - as WTF as you can get; be like having a George Reed or Mike Pringle in your backfield but not giving them the ball so your poor passing QB can go 2 and out over & over again.

But I guess if some CFL coaching staff had an immobile Danny Mac type QB trying to run a roll-out or option offence and it failed it would all be because the QB was mediocre to useless ? Bizzarr-o .

It seems other teams DC’s know how to defend Ford but Greg Quick struggled against Hamilton the last game.

The Argos defense lost to two backup QBs in consecutive weeks, although there were mistakes on special teams in both games that contributed.

Thankfully, they didn't get beat by Brice and the Lions.

Genius Scotty M quick hooks Tre Ford for some no talent , raw rookie, but right passport QB "talent" - with fine results

Scotty continuing to build on his CFL career HC record; please retain this guy as HC, Bob-O & the Ticats

Dolegala had a muck quicker hook.
The body language of Kiondre Smith every time Ford short hops a ball to him speaks volumes. If you want to talk passport, it’s Ford’s passport that has so many trying to force feed him as a starting QB in this league.

At a certain point, OV, you have to put the responsibility on Ford himself. He threw for 58 yards in 27 minutes; that ain't cutting it. He's in Year 5 and I see little progress or development in him. He's now had 26 starts which isn't a small number. Maybe we just need to accept him for what he is.

Ford is what he is -- a tremendous athlete capable of making breathtaking plays on occasion, who also can't consistently complete the sort of "easy" passes that are an absolute requirement of the position. Bouncing passes off the ground repeatedly when there is no defender impeding the throw in any way is a major red flag. It's also very debatable whether he has ever, in five years, put in the work to learn how to play the QB position without relying on his athleticism.

Tre Ford, Chad Kelly, and Davis Alexander all broke into the league at the same time - 2022. The difference between Ford's development (or lack thereof) and that of the other two is astounding.

Interestingly, the three are not too far off each other in terms of starts. As of right now (including postseason games), Kelly has started 35 games: 1 in 2022, 17 in 2023, 10 in 2024 and 7 in 2026. Alexander has started 21: 4 in 2024, 10 in 2025, 7 in 2026. Ford has started 22 (19 with Edmonton and 3 this year with Hamilton).

Ford has played poorly in a bunch of opportunities; him getting the hook for a vet GC winning QB like Fajardo makes plenty of sense; pulled for a raw rookie stiff like this Frost guy (or being 3rd string to a Dolegala to begin with) speaks volumes on what genius Scotty M thinks of him. His passport means he will be graded 10x more severely - by most coaches and a lot of CFL "fans" - than dozens of new American QBs to the CFL who get chances and stick around (the list of brutal stiffs is lengthy)

Ford is not going to lead a same old, standard, simple CFL offence to lots of wins; yet he has won a number of games in that same old pass from the pocket ./ little ground game CFL offence; and with a better than average pass completion % mark, plus he has thrown some nice deep pass TDs; the far superior mobility and run threat he has displayed is mostly lost on CFL GOB offensive "minds" though. Anybody catch the BC game the other night ? - where a raw rookie QB struggled with weak passing, but ran wild for over 100 yards and combined with a big power back ripping yards for a win on the road vs. a team with a better record? Yeah, that kind of thing must be some fluke in the same old CFL though - you could never game plan for a superior mobility QB and combine that with a strong other ground attack (did Tracy Ham get Orwelled out of CFL history - how did Ham fare running a run & shoot Argo offence?: how bout Ken Hobart leading the Ticats to a GC?).

IF you have a superior run threat QB and decide he is going to be your starter then you must game plan / play call for that type of QB and let him use that talent to max affect, and a very strong ground game sets up some good passing as well. Current standard party line CFL OCs have no clue about this concept though. IF Rourke is not back, watch BC ignore what their offence did last game, with back to same old standard look stuff, and that young QB losing trying to lead a mostly pass O and failing.

Tre Ford can't play QB in the CFL - just not good enough / something not right with his resume. Might still make a fine safety or slotback though - more real / radical Canadian positions in the good ole CFL.
