As we all know the O-Line was terrible last year. Doxtater was a dubious “asset” at best. All Argo fans should be happy the Line is being overhauled for ‘26.

All the time? Can you point to another high draft pick whom a team waited years to acquire, then agreed to release from his contract (not including guys who were allowed to go to the NFL)?

I grant that trades are rare, but the point here is that the Argos were under no obligation to acquiesce to a request for renegotiation (if that is truly what happened). The guy was under contract -- he could either fulfil the terms of his contract, or retire, or hold out from camp, or come to camp and raise a ruckus in an attempt to force his release. There was absolutely nothing that required the team to cut him loose in the winter, and effectively hand him to a rival. This is ridiculously bad asset management.

By that logic, let's also release Hunter, Vandal, Bosse and anyone else who underperformed (i.e. everyone except Nicaastro).

I think Hunter deserves the benefit of the doubt after a serious traffic accident injury messed up his season. As for the others, yes for sure they should all be on the bubble, just like Doxtater would have been, except that it’s highly unlikely any of THEM asked for a raise.

How well was Hunter playing before the accident? Not well at all is my distinct recollection. As for the others being on the bubble, yes, they should be. And yet there are fans who don't think o-line should be a draft priority.

Perhaps the team did try to trade Doxtater but found no interest. If that is the case, the team has to choose either to play hard ball with the player or just release him. Since Doxtater was going to be a backup anyway, does the team really want a player with a negative attitude on the team?

I think we can all agree, Hunter was nowhere near his best last year. Hopefully, that was due to a questionable coaching decision to play him at OT rather than his OG position, where he had previously excelled.

On the team and negative, or released in the off-season, were not the only choices. Released at the end of training camp, when other teams have already stocked up elsewhere, would also be permissible. As would seeing if the player was disgruntled enough to actually not show up for camp, in which case he could be suspended without someone else getting him. Sometimes hardball is the best path to success.

The previous coach’s handling of the Oline in general was pretty questionable at times. Hunter was not nearly the only guy who was given the chance and eventually failed at OT. Instead of sticking with a lineup and building continuity, coach rotated guys in and out of different positions, essentially holding O-line auditions during the first several games of the regular season.

Pretty reckless coaching if you ask me, and I think it speaks to the extremely high regard the guy has for his own coaching abilities. I’m so glad he’s gone and I sure hope we blow Ottawa to smithereens this year.

SO, just what O-lineman do you see from this draft class that will be worth a high pick (and then ignoring other areas of serious need) who will come in and upgrade any of the Argos current O-linemen ?
