So far it doesn't look like the Argos offence is going to be able to outscore the Calgary offence. Despite the changes the offensive line has played pretty well in pass protection. No run game as usual (other than Kelly).
The pass defence has been bad for the most part.
BC got rid of Franklin because his bad plays were more than the good ones, but with the Argos he has been mostly good.
I have been critical of Chatfield so far this year, but he actually is playing ok this game. Got a sack and a QB hit, and the defence has played well against the run. Not much pressure otherwise in passing situations, even with blitzing when Adams is killing them.
Calgary gets the ball to start the second half, and if they score a TD it will be very hard for the Argos to win the game.
Franklin has only played for the Argos. He never played for BC.

Glad that one is finally over.
I think the Argos were badly out coached tonight. Taking a time count in short yardage play because you aren’t sure on your substitution, then burning a time out in the same scenario was a bad omen.
Discipline was ridiculously bad tonight. Just some bonehead penalties like when Calgary gets a procedure which would have made it 2nd and 15 and we get a misconduct penalty so it becomes 2nd and 5 instead. Just brutal.
Benji going for a pick at the end of the first half first play after we scored a TD. You can’t do that in that situation. Back breaker (one of many).
Just got to flush this one away and be smarter for our next “home” game next week.
On the bright side, Arbuckle looked very good running short yardage. I know he was good at it in Calgary as Bo’s back up.
I also think if teams are kicking away from Grant, they need to get Herslow back on the roster to compliment him. Smith is not a kick off returner. He doesn’t even catch the ball correctly when he’s back there.

I hope we don't see an overreaction on here about how bad the defence was tonight. It was bad but they had been decent the previous two games in a year when just about every team's defence has had its struggles against these high-powered offenses. Special teams weren't good tonight either.
I thought that the o-line actually held up okay against the excellent Calgary d-line.
This was the 2nd consecutive short week for the Argos so hopefully a full week of preparation will do them good against the Bombers who will themselves be coming off a short week.

The entire team needs work.
I'm going to place the loss on Benji Franklin, however. That was the worst attempt on a receiver I have ever seen. Why did he spin around like that for no reason? He cost his team the momentum.

"Franklin has only played for the Argos. He never played for BC."
You are correct. I should have said the Seattle Seahawks.

I don't think it is an overreaction to be concerned that the pass defence has allowed three of the four teams they've faced to throw for 400+ yards, and that the one they didn't allow to throw for 400+ yards is Jake Maier.

Obviously defence was the biggest culprit in this defeat, but the offence had some problems as well. As good as Kelly has been, he continues to make questionable decisions that lead to picks. The first INT was a superb play by the defender, but that throw had very little chance of being caught even if it hadn't been picked. Miller seems to have fallen into Dinwiddie's tendency to forget about the running game. Seven carries for Hicks is at least three to five too few. And somehow Mital has gone back-to-back weeks with just two touches. I get that defences sometimes take certain things away, but a guy as sure-handed and tough to tackle as he is can surely be targeted at least once a quarter.

On the positive side, hell of a run by Ojo to track down McAllister from behind on a huge punt return. He's got a motor, and reminds me more and more of Robbie Smith.
Also, good to see that Polk is back in form.

Let's keep in mind the Argos had ONE day of practice to prepare for a good Calgary team and had to juggle for injuries. They still put up 36 points. Good enough to win most weeks. It was 6 days between games, and they flew back and forth. 3-4 or 4-3 was always going to be the goal with this kind of schedule. 3 games left.

True, but Calgary was on an even shorter week, albeit with only one (reasonably short) flight between games. And Argos have been very fortunate, overall, with injuries to this point of the season. I agree 3-4 at minimum was the goal, and it's certainly still attainable (as is 4-3).
