That was a sensational run by Smith. Size and speed and smarts, he’s an exceptional prospect and surely Miller will find more ways to use him as the season goes on. Unfortunately he was the guy who missed the rub on Awe to allow the punt block, but as Joni said, life is for learning.

This is a sensible thought. Can’t underestimate not playing gametime with a QB for what feels like the first time. Sure Polk had a bad game, couple of drops and maybe a let up on that long ball, but that’s all fixed in time. No way do they sit either of those guys. I fully expect a bounce back by both next week.

All this tells me is Kelly, Miller and the team really want to win.
As someone who’s played organized football, hockey and soccer, none of this bothers me one bit. Honestly, ask anyone who played sports, if you never had a spat or altercation among teammates, you’re playing church league. There’s no denying outcomes in a room full of testosterone. It’s basic science. Coach still has to rein it in and have some control, but this happens. The world is full of pansy fans that don’t understand much.IssuesMcgee wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2026 3:33 pmAll this tells me is Kelly, Miller and the team really want to win.ARGO57 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2026 2:52 pm Good old 3Down not missing a chance to stir the shit with Kelly and the Argonauts.

Re: Argos @ Montreal Game Thread
3downnation.com and other media outlets would be negligent not to report this, but I also don't think it's a huge deal. Miller had a confrontation with MBT in Hamilton in 2022 and the Argos won the Grey Cup. These things happen. Miller and Kelly have a close relationship so neither of them will be bothered by such a spat.RichK wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2026 3:56 pmHow is that stirring the shit? Would you prefer that Kelly’s flare-ups with Miller and with Polk went unreported? I noticed them, as many others surely did, and it is useful to see the team’s responses to themARGO57 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2026 2:52 pm Good old 3Down not missing a chance to stir the shit with Kelly and the Argonauts.

I also noticed Chad looking agitated at times waiting for the play call to come in, and a couple of times looking to the sidelines and complaining after a play. All of these incidents are surely related to him not being in full game mode yet, and he will probably still need a couple more games to get there.
But when he does I’m convinced he could very well be on his way to another MOP season. Oh, one other useful thing about the 3DN article, it shows what an important guy in the dressing room Adarius Pickett is gonna be this year.
Regarding the relationship between Kelly and 3downnation.com, it would be nice to see that smoothed over although I have no idea how that would happen. Hell, Dunk, Hodge, and Abbott had an extensive conversation with Kelly during Grey Cup week in 2023 in which Kelly revealed his concussion to them during the East Final that year. Obviously, Kelly took offence to their reporting over the sexual harassment allegations and still isn't pleased with them - JC Abbott, I believe, in particular. Anyway, it is what it is.

Never the greatest look but as long as things get worked out afterwards no harm no foul.
Personally the fact that it was reported doesn’t bother me, but there definitely is an anti Kelly/Argonaut bias at 3Down led by JC Abbott and Dunk.

As someone who's played hockey and competitive baseball, I completely agree. Heck, I have had E division slo pitch games get more heated than that.ArgoZ wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2026 4:37 pmIssuesMcgee wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2026 3:33 pmARGO57 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2026 2:52 pm Good old 3Down not missing a chance to stir the shit with Kelly and the Argonauts.

Kelly and Miller have been working together for five years. It wouldn't make sense if this altercation broke them. Just another day at the office if you ask me.
Re: Argos @ Montreal Game Thread
Yes, I am pretty sure that's why Kelly did that. He was cold towards 3downnation.com at another media availability before the season started.Stevoman wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2026 1:48 amArgoRavi wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2026 6:55 pmIs this why Kelly totally ignored the questions from 3 down nation in the post game presser?RichK wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2026 3:56 pm

I enjoy listening to the 3 Down podcast on a weekly basis. Perhaps I'm wrong in my opinion, but it certainly seems that Abbott in particular has gone out of his way to keep the Kelly incident alive....yet a player can get an impaired driving charge & its no big deal. There is no shortage of other cheap shots towards the Argos regarding draft picks, front office hires etc, but I have come to expect that on their podcast.
I am sure Kelly would have answered regarding that sideline incident had another media member asked.

Go ahead and report what happened between Kelly and Miller but Abbott then feels the need to add “Kelly is known to become heated at times with a history of outbursts and off field issues dating back to his college days, though he has recently claimed to be a “new person” (highlighted in red).
Personally I don’t blame Kelly for not responding to any 3Down questions.
