Argos will stay on the west side. Running across the field is not a big issue. Both locker rooms are essential in opposite endzones, so there should be no problem with players having to cross on the way to the rooms. And you can bet the Argos will want to put the opposing team in the sun during the summer.

It's to create new revenue opportunities, primarily. The one growth area some teams have had is party zones. (It also has the added benefit of eliminating the bush-league-ness of rounded-off end zones, or end zones that are too short and have both grass and artificial turf.)
I can accept that. The 65 yard width remaining is the key. Lots of open field in which to execute your offence. I'm good with goal posts moved to the back. I am always dreading a Grey Cup will be won on a missed FG. I have not witnessed one yet in my 58 years but when it did finally happen the abuse our league would receive would be over the top. Post patterns will be hot routes inside the red zone.

They should have consulted players though. That seems like an obvious oversight and not a good omen.
The Argos once won a game by having Noel Prefontaine deliberately miss a field goal by kicking toward the sideline in the end zone. Imagine the uproar (and not just in Canada) if a Grey Cup was ever won that way. It would be worse (but not that much worse) than if an actual GWFG attempt was missed and the team that missed it won the Grey Cup anyway. And then there's the scenario of a team close to the goal-line taking no chances by punting rather than trying a FG. All of these are highly unlikely scenarios, but they are all possible within the current rules.

Consulting players would obviously be ideal. But the league simply doesn't roll that way, never has, and it would not be possible to do so without word of possible changes leaking out, which would result in the league losing control of the messaging from the get-go.
And a bunch of NFL games - including big, key games - have ended with players standing around while the clock runs down to zero cause the team needing time has no time outs left ... does this get ridiculed as a joke ? (part of their rules, so, that's how she goes; just like kicking a rouge is part of the Canadian game)

The embarrassing Canadian inferiority complex is really on display so often (on so many subjects); OMG, a team won a GC game cause they were able to kick a rouge - that's just so wrong and Americans won't get it; but a team could lose a Super Bowl with 1 and a half minutes of playing time left on the clock and players kneeling down, doing nothing and that's just swell / A-ok. What a joke.

Lirim won a game last year in the same fashion.

I get the single point for a missed field goal is a topic of debate, but who asked to change the size of the field, the position of the goal posts and the teams to be seperated on either side of the field? No one.

If changing that rule means changing the size of the field, then no. Go back to the drawing board. The league has been fine for generations with the rouge. It's no secret. If you don't want a single point scored on you, then don't let the offense in range, maybe?

Ben Grant makes a solid point:

My only concern is how the clock will work within the final three minutes. I don’t want teams to be able to run for a first down with 1:45 remaining and then take three knees.

I am still wrestling with some of these changes. I like the change to a standardized 35 seconds between plays, as long as it doesn't mess up the final three minutes of the game and first half. I love mandating that teams be on opposite sides of the field.

I don't like the other changes but can probably live with them - and have no choice but to do that. It will be interesting to see what the results of these changes are. For the record, CFL games are averaging a healthy 54 points so far this season.

According to a possibly reliable source, the clock rules for the last three minutes will remain as is.

Chris Edwards from TSN has stated such on Twitter.

Finally Toronto can move the cameras from the east side to the west side and view the a fuller stadium and the other fans might stop mocking the team. I am sure the stadium will be rewired for the World Cup to accomplish this.

The possibility of returning a missed FG will be virtually non existent. How often do you see a FG attempt come up short? With the 55 yard line being removed, where will a team scrimmage after a FG is missed? The 20? Seems like it's going to be even more difficult to play Defense with these changes. It could have been much worse however.
