The incident is certainly newsworthy, and it is my personal opinion that Argos fans shouldn't object to it being reported. The difference is that many in the fanbase have, in my opinion, a legitimate gripe with the way 3DownNation covers the Argonauts (including prior February 2024 when the Kelly stuff first came out. As a result, the response to stories like this from this source tends to be more hostile than it otherwise would be from say TSN.

I can't knock reporters for reporting what they see. Did the incident require a whole article? Probably not. It was more than enough to report it as a point in the "& other thoughts" story.
I will say, 3 Clown should be sweating a bit because it looks like the Argos are going to be much better than they hoped for. If the team has a strong season, then as Smilin' Hank once said about the media, they can shove it.
I'm willing to bet if the Argos get through the East final, they will not be ending their offseason articles with a recap of how a team's season went. They somehow only came up with that idea after the Argos had a rough season, and I can't see them having the strength to continue doing that if the team makes the Grey Cup game.

I don’t think enough has been made of the fact the the 2 teams combined for only 6 penalties for 55 yards in this game. That is very disciplined football this early in the season.

There were only 10 total penalties in the BC game and 11 in the Hamilton game, both well below last year’s average totals. Is there a surge in league discipline, or has there been a long-awaited league directive to cut out the ticky-tack calls?

Friday night Mital was called for OPI well after the ball had hit the turf. Never saw that before.

Yeah, that was an insane call. But AV is correct, it was a very cleanly played game.

I feel like the only game we have seen so far with a lot of penalties was the Edmonton/Ottawa game. The lack of penalties is very unusual for early in the season.

The lack of any kind of consistent pass rush by any D this season is also kinda noticeable IMO - resulting in some vet QBs having big passing days. Now maybe the O-lines across the league are all very good this season, but maybe also refs have been instructed to let a bit more holding go than in the past or according to the actual rules ?
I don't trust anybody to do with CFL "leadership" now for not trying to monkey with the game to make it more in their american wannabe image or appealing to whoever new "customers". And most people love big offence football - lots of big plays, deep passes, scoring galore - me to, at least for some of the games, and if it's a result of offences being more aggressive or innovative that's swell. But I also like to see tough, defensive football and some low scoring game where points have to be earned. We'll see how this season progresses, but the integrity of the game must be respected - sorry Stewie & MLSE types - I could care less about arena football with 67 to 55 type scores.

Is this why Kelly totally ignored the questions from 3 down nation in the post game presser?
Yes, I am pretty sure that's why Kelly did that. He was cold towards 3downnation.com at another media availability before the season started.
When I first saw it I was disappointed in him but now knowing the context I have no issue with him saying nothing.
