While the performance of our D is of concern, it should be noted that the average total score in all the games so far this season is averaging about 65. So, while this game is clearly an outlier, offences are much more potent all around. Every team, with the possible exception of Ottawa, has an excellent proven starting QB and every team seems to have multiple excellent receivers. With that in mind, putting pressure on the QB is key. In our next two games, if we let Collaros and Mitchell stand in the pocket unmolested for up to 5 seconds, with the receivers those teams have at their disposal, we are in for a hurt big time. Finding a way to put pressure on the QB is going to be paramount for the Argos to have success.
More pressure on the QB would absolutely be a huge step in the right direction. Interestingly, though, the 16 games played to date have had an average of 3.1 sacks, total combined between the two teams. I don't know if o-lines have gotten better, or the new clock rules are limiting d-line substitutions, or QBs are releasing the ball quicker, or officials are allowing more holding, or maybe some other reason or combination of reasons. But the lack of sacks might be one reason offences are largely having their way.

I highly doubt O-line being better this year is a factor in this equation of more potent passing offences. I'd go with: a bunch of veteran QBs throwing to some real talented receiving corps; maybe the refs allowing a tad more holding; and also stubborn or myopic D coaches not getting how to defend against offences that are pretty well all pass with more emphasis on deeper shots. I don't see enough of a deep safety getting to roam and make plays very often (Katsantonis some, and Hutter as an injury replacement picking off Kelly twice in Ottawa); nor much smart blitzing - an MLB or W-OLB doing pretty well nothing against the pass is a waste of resources; and maybe there is a lack of a good number of real quality pass rush DEs in the league now ?

I imagine quite a few coaches and players will be attending the Bomber/Ti-Cat game tonight to personally scout their next 2 opponents. Argos should get 3 practice days this week and the Bombers will be have a 5 day week facing Toronto. Perfect bounce back game to collect that all important third win.

I will await the Winnipeg/Toronto official game thread before I provide my thoughts on Friday nights matchup.

The Argos lost so I'm not starting it this time.

After watching Winnipeg march down the field by running the football repeatedly to kick a game winning field goal with 23 seconds left leaves me with a dream of what an Argos running attack could be. It will be interesting to see how the Argos run defence matches up with Winnipeg's running attack as you would think that Winnipeg will do its best to try to keep the Argos offence off the field.

Scooter.

I'd do it, but they have lost every game that I have commented on before or during it.
