Weather forecast is crappy.
I don't play QB1 at all if the weather holds. Not sure I would've even if it was nice.

Preseason game one, the team has most bodies in camp. This is their opportunity to evaluate. Don't play ones at all. Alot of these guys may never play another pro game again. In Guelph "home" game they can play ones for a quarter maybe.

The weather forecast for Hamilton doesn't look great. I understand the need for Kelly and other starters to get some meaningful reps to get back into the 'swing of things.'

Moving Cassar to offence is interesting.

The OT battle will be interesting with Bland at LT & Rush Reimer protecting the QB from the pass rush at RT. 240lb RB Qualan Jones starts, as does Toia the Global DT that I think can be impactful. gil is glad to see Kelly at long last being listed as starter. Hope he gets 2-3 series just to get aclimitzed to the speed of the CFL game.

It makes no sense. He's probably your best Canadian linebacker, second only to Judge.

Cassar has rarely seen the field at LB in his five seasons here. He's a fantastic special-teams player who probably could step in and play well at LB, but since we haven't found out by now, we probably never will.
I'd be happy if Miller used a lot of FB sets, with Cassar or Parsalidis (who's reputed to be a devastating blocker). But is that likely? Probably not.
Last season (or maybe the year before) I was advocating for Cassar to be used as ball-carrier in short-yardage situations, the way Hamilton uses Milanovic-Litre. I doubt that will happen, but since we don't appear to have an obvious short-yardage QB on the roster, maybe I'll get my wish.

Typical CFL "thinker" move - a big Canadian guy moved to fullback (which is usually just a blocker); and Cassar has no real/recent experience as an offensive player; but if the job is just blocking, maybe doesn't matter much; and we'll see how much Miller deploys an H-back. That Cassar is not given any chance to compete for the what should be a wide-open MLB job speaks volumes; compare that to rookie draft pick Veresuk starting at MLB for the Ticats last year.
GOBs and their 7 only need apply thinking limits who/where Canadian talent will get a shot; MLB will be an American spot for the Argos; the Ticats were open last year to a Canadian playing that spot, but still had imports competing / in the mix there in TC and on the roster (and actually started a rookie import there in the play-off game last season, after the year Veresuk had)

Perhaps Cassar will become another John Palazeti and there's nothing wrong with that.
