In the 2024-25 off-season, there was a sense that the Argos had enough quality linemen, especially Canadian ones, to have two solid o-lines. Today, I have concerns about the o-line depth. I have been surprised with how many young Canadian o-linemen have been cut loose over the past few months.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2026 5:43 am Murphy's not a disinterested observer, obviously, but it's pretty hard to argue against the notion that what had potentially been an area of decent depth -- albeit the o-line did not play well at all last year -- has become quite thin. At this time last year many of us expected Doxtater and Dankwah would be fixtures here for a long time. Dankwah may or may not ever return to the league, but Doxtater would certainly be a useful backup. O'Neil, Coakes, Vandal and Bosse are also gone, some more lamentably than others.

He made too much money to be backup. I think part of the O-line problem is that 2 of the players, Hunter and Shepley, both make huge CFL dollars, and surely that impacts what the team wants to pay for the rest of the line.
Re: 2026 In Season Transactions
I believe that Shepley, Hunter, and Nicastro are all in the top 12 offensive linemen in salary.
Re: 2026 In Season Transactions
It is possible Doxtator balked at being a backup and its salary
Re: 2026 In Season Transactions
I’m sure there is a lot none of us will ever know about why this happened. I don’t stress over it. He was a starter on a bad line last year playing in a spot that is now back to it’s correct player.
Re: 2026 In Season Transactions
O-Line scouting and evaluation in the draft process needs to be examined.

How did you guys give up on Eduoard? He's been playing well as the Rider's boundary defensive halfback.

With a Canadian passport, guy is likely not going to get a real shot to play in most CFL secondaries except at safety. He is playing for the Riders but as an injury replacement for all-star D-half Milligan. Edouard has built up some CFL experience and nice to see him playing well.
Look at the Stamps - Adrian Greene was an all-star at corner last season after tying for the league lead in picks; he gets injured this year and his replacement Ben Labrosse has 5 INTs in 3 starts (if he had an American passport the TSN talkers would be raving about how great and amazing that is / what a DB - like they do about the Elks Kordell Jackson, who got torched repeatedly vs. Sask in their first meeting); but Dickenson had a chance earlier this year to start both those guys in his secondary (Labrosse had started some at D-half as a rookie), but starting 2 Canadians there would boggle a GOB mind like his; better to just have one Canadian starter in his entire D as part of the 7 only need apply plan.
