So, coming off a breakout game on the ground, the decision is made to completely abandon the run game (4 rushes for 15 yards). It's not like we were trailing by a considerable number of points throughout the game which would necessitate throwing ball a ton. I'll remind everyone that Chad stated in an interview a couple of years ago that a running game is a QB's best friend. I've come to question some of coach Miller's decision making as the season has progressed (that third and inches call against the Elks being the worst transgression). He seems a bit in over his head to me. I feel that too much pressure is being put on Chad to play "hero ball", which has lead to some bad decisions and far too many INT's. Not only does passing practically every down make us predictable, it's also hazardous to Kelly's health.
Pass heavy O also hazardous for Kelly with a questionable O-Line.

All games were close right till the end... August seems to be best time for the league getting people out.... plus no competition from NFL, NHL etc .... the labour day matches are set up nicely... Think best game ever seen Zac and Brady O play...

Looking forward to going to the Hammer next weekend to see the most important game of the season for both teams.

So, are you predicting an Ottawa win tonight under clear skies?😃

Credit the Riders for what?
Calling a hard count on a FG attempt was a brilliant gambit I don’t recall seeing before, and it may have won them the game. I feel so sorry for McFadden who had a great game going before this terrible blunder.

I agree with others that the convert flip at the end of the first half gave the Riders life when they should have been dead at that point. The worst part of it was it came after one of the most incredible Argo TD drives we will ever see. Starting on our 15, six consecutive completions to score, six pinpoint ropes that only a handful of QBs on the planet could have pulled off. It looked like 2023 Chad was back for the first time.

Of course he also threw two egregious picks but I tend to agree with Angelo that we need to accept the outrageously bad Chad in order enjoy the spectacularly good. One thing is for sure though, he is one tough SOB. He took some hellacious hits but kept on scrapping. Despite the crushing loss I saw a lot to like in this game and I’m not worried about this team at all.

Most are agreeing, this was a game that the Argos should have won but too many mistakes killed their chances

This is a really key point. Miller saying he wants to play more physical, then doing exactly that with great success against Hamilton, then calling four (!) run plays against Sask makes zero sense. Sadly, treating the run as an afterthought seems to be intrinsic to his approach. Hamilton was the outlier.

I got bad vibes when the Saskatchewan got 5 points in the last 30 seconds or so of that first half.

Argos are always good for one road collapse a year, it seems, and it's disappointing that it had to happen on Saturday. Hamilton lost and it was a chance to build some cushion atop of them, especially given that Hamilton can concoct sorcery on Labour Day.

To repeat what others said, 7-0 to end the half turning into 6-5 was the turning point. Can't miss blocking assignments on a play as simple as a convert. Every play matters.

In 20 seconds, a great first half turned into only an okay one.

paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2026 7:42 am The number of stupid mistakes is off the charts. Two INTs that were either terrible decisions or terrible throws (or both). The Ungerer illegal-participation penalty that pushed a convert attempt back 10 yards and disrupted the kicker's timing. The touching-an-official penalty. Three makeable missed kicks, one of which not only took a point off the board but gave the opponent two points. Miller not knowing he couldn't challenge a play two minutes after it ended, and challenging a play that was clearly not going to be overturned, and not challenging a play that likely would have been overturned. McFadden's offside penalty. Eleven mistakes, at least eight of which were mental errors. I've no doubt missed a few others. That might be the stupidest loss ever.
I will challenge you on the first pick Kelly threw. Watch the replay. Ulm is just waiting for the ball to get to him. You can’t do that in the pros or a DB will undercut which is what happened. 2nd pick, entirely on Kelly. Looked like he didn’t want to take a hit and was bailing as he threw it. That was the more important of the 2 picks, because the Riders turned it over on downs immediately after the first one.
But agree with pretty much all the other mistakes. Frustrating game to watch with an obvious turning point being the end of the first half.
If the Argos don’t think Lirim will be fit to return, they should try and pry Lauther out of Ottawa. He’s having a great year, is a pending FA next year and will
Likely be looking to move on to a better team situation. I suggest trading Haggerty for him, and add a neg list playernor two.
