I looked at the play by play. Wpg's stats appear to be close to correct. They record it as 16 pass attempts, 11 rush attempts and one sack, which adds up to 28 offensive snaps. That said, the stats claim Wpg had 30 offensive plays including three "team losses." I don't really understand how a play can be something other than a pass, a rush or a sack, but the CFL lives in its own world, stats-wise.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 04, 2026 10:10 pmWow, that is both crazy and plausible. Yet that was also his final completions to attempts. I think something funky went down with the stats and the CFL site only has their first half stats up.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 04, 2026 10:51 am
If I were a betting man, I would bet on Collaros not being someone they need to scheme for. Wpg looks almost hopeless on offence. They ran 28 plays from scrimmage last night. That's almost exactly half of the league average this year. In the early 1990s, that was about a quarter and a half's worth of work for Dunigan and co.

That is really strange. I know I looked at the half time stats and saw 11-16 passing. I haven't watched the game, but I did record it. I may have to watch and count offensive plays today.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2026 7:28 amI looked at the play by play. Wpg's stats appear to be close to correct. Do punts, fgs, pats count as offensive plays?

No, they're special teams plays.

Not to me. I have been tracking every game -- just offensive snaps. Runs, passes, sacks. We are getting about 109 of those per game this season, up from about 106 last season. I had hoped and expected it would be more like 5-10 extra offensive plays.

The play clock went from 20 to 30? But with time blown in much faster after end of previous play. But that is real time counting off playing time after runs, and pass completions tackled in bounds correct? Its a positive that there are more plays. Unless there is more tempo, no huddle (which the Argos are good at), I'm surprised there are more plays at all. Or am I missing something in how it actually works?paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2026 5:20 pmNot to me. I have been tracking every game -- just offensive snaps. Runs, passes, sacks. Under the old system, the 20-second clock was more like a 40-second clock in reality, because the ref didn't start the 20 until substitutions and other things happened, which often took 20 or even 25 seconds off the game clock. I had hoped they would start the new 35 the instant the whistle blew to end the previous play, and as a result we'd get 5-10 more offensive snaps per game. It was a false hope as we are getting three more.

It would be nice if the clock wasn't running on converts too. Converts should always be untimed plays, and extension of the TD. The only time the clock doesn't run on a covert is inside the final 3 minutes of a half.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2026 2:14 pm Under the old system, the 20-second clock was more like a 40-second clock in reality, because the ref didn't start the 20 until substitutions and other things happened, which often took 20 or even 25 seconds off the game clock.
