They have to cut Tim White after this, right? No way you can have 2 receives make 550k between them. Lawler is a stud. This is a good signing for them.

Re: Hamilton Tiger-Cats
A dumb GM /team can easily have 2 receivers being way over-paid.
White was horrid last season; but, he has been very good in the past, and it might be expected he could return to his league best form; White's best CFL production season blows away anything Lawler has done in the league. Lawler is a big play, 50-50 ball kinda receiver who gets tons of hype for some of his hi-lite real type catches (sort of an Arland Bruce of the CFL now, only way slower). Most teams would want a guy like that in their receiving corps for the big plays; making him one of the highest paid at his position in the league and thinking he is your #1 target receiver is just plain dumb IMO. That moron Jonestown signed him for huge CFL buck$, just like he did with E. Lewis.
Re: Hamilton Tiger-Cats
It certainly may make it prohibitive for them to add on defense (assuming nobody is cut).

Yes OV, White was horrible last season after demanding a huge salary, yet somehow he was named "All CFL"....but then again how Hamilton Rec Brydges beat out Polk for ROY is another mystery. Meanwhile Hamilton has no C or starting MLB. 1999 & counting folks!OV Argo wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 6:10 pmA dumb GM /team can easily have 2 receivers being way over-paid.

BM is going to throw over 5,000 yards again. Can't wait for the 2 TiCat games at BMO this year. Should be dandies. Pay them back for the 3 losses last season.

I had no problem with Brydges winning ROY - he was outstanding last season and IMO did more than Polk. One of the best rookie CFL receivers in some time IMO.gilthethrill wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 11:26 pmYes OV, White was horrible last season after demanding a huge salary, yet somehow he was named "All CFL"....but then again how Hamilton Rec Brydges beat out Polk for ROY is another mystery. And Tim White could rebound to another great CFL season after his stone hands act of last season; as I pointed out, he has done way more than the IMO vastly over-rated Lawler in a single CFL season.
Hey, maybe all 3 of White, Brydges and Lawler put up huge 1500 yard CFL receiving seasons next year with the great Bovine feeding them the ball. Lawler getting top CFL receiver money is a joke IMO and shows how dumb they are.
Gonna love seeing the clueless Pussycats in the basement again next season. Gonna party in the Hammer like it's 1999.

Personally I think the East will be a dog fight this season, any of the 4 teams could win it.OV Argo wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 4:22 amI had no problem with Brydges winning ROY - he was outstanding last season and IMO did more than Polk. I don't think there is a free spot on the bingo card anymore. Right now the parity across all 9 teams looks staggering. Every game will matter. Cross overs will be in play in both divisions. Injuries could dictate who gets in and doesn't.ARGO57 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 1:08 pmPersonally I think the East will be a dog fight this season, any of the 4 teams could win it.OV Argo wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 4:22 amI had no problem with Brydges winning ROY - he was outstanding last season and IMO did more than Polk. You may be right there, and I hope so (love to see tough competition and no $hite teams), but it maybe quite premature to think that - till rosters are set after free agency and the draft. IMO, pretty well all CFL teams find pretty good talent every year - with some being more complete and deeper than others.Scooter McCray wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 9:04 pmI don't think there is a free spot on the bingo card anymore. The real difference maker IMO is coaching - HC & staffs. And there are really just 3 teams with proven winning HCs - Argos, Bombers & Als. BC & Edmonton have brand new rookie HCs; the Riders have the promising Mace just going into his 2nd year; Dyce is iffy at best in Ottawa (but at least they are trying a new DC) and the Ticats & Stumps are saddled with real dullards IMO.
