Als sign Cam Dukes to replace the mediocre, next to useless this year but now supposedly injured MBT; they also added another new American QB to their neg list as per 3 Down. Guess they are in a real QB hunt/search mode?

I thought Macocia had high praise for his former Carabin QB Jon Senecal who was in Als' TC ? - but maybe he was totally unavailable or has "retired" to play in the big Montreal flag league ?

LOL - same old, good old ...

Or perhaps Senecal is simply not good enough to play QB at this level.

I wasn't sure where to post this but it's great that former Western U QB Evan Hillock has been given the chance to extend his playing career in the pros. He recently signed with the St Joeseph Goats of the Arena League.

There have been other former U Sports QBs who have signed to play in US indoor leagues before; more of them have gone to play (semi) pro ball in European leagues.

These are their chances to continue to play QB (at least and get paid something for it) after college ball.

The CFL is mostly a write-off for the best U Sports QB talent -year, after year, after year now - , and it will continue this way with the current clique of GOBs running the CFL. There are a number of QBs at the CFL Combine every year - they need somebody to throw the passes for the drills - but they will continue to get zero real CFL consideration, while CFL teams continue to drag up here and sign for TCs (or neg list) any American QB they can find. That's just how the CFL system works. And real discussion of the subject is not to be forthcoming from any CFL "reporters" like are found on 3 Down (a site i appreciate for at least covering Canadian football all the time).

Shhhh; quiet please; ignorance is key on this one.

2 of the QBs at this year's Combine put up some quite impressive QB athletic testing #s.

E, Latendresse-Regimbald (McGill - former U Sports rookie of the year and a 4 year starter there) - runs a 4.63 forty and a 7.0 3 Cone, plus some explosive jumping #s, at 6-4, 213

Christian Veilleux (Georgia State most recently) records a very solid set of #s as well for a big QB (6-4, 219).

SO, 2 big, very athletic QBs up this draft ... so sad they will get zero real CFL shot to play QB due to their passport; but, both could possibly get a shot at a position switch - to slotback maybe to maybe find another Brad Sinopoli ?

Latendresse-Regimbald's stats at the USports level are okay, but not great. CFL scouts, understandably, have concerns about his passing efficiency. To be fair though, he has played for a poor team.

Very middling to weak passing stats mostly at McGill, but yep, playing on a weak team that has to face Laval & the Carabins, and without a number of all-star receiver at his disposal. Obviously a superb run threat QB, but that means little to CFL offensive thinkers nowdays; and his passing stats will be good enough reason for the GOBs to totally write him off for a real CFL try-out as QB.

Finally got to see him play on TV last season; threw some poor decision or off the mark passes, but also threw a beauty long TD strike against Laval in the play-offs, along with a couple of other quick release impressive throws. "Arm strength" would be no issue IMO, and working with a pro QB coach on his reads and QB smarts = could maybe make something good; ain't going to happen though. Same old CFL $hite - bring on some Div III US QBs with nowhere near the athleticism though.

The Alouettes have signed former Laval QB Arnaud Desjardins.

I didn’t see the game but Arnaud Desjardins went 7 of 8 in passing against Ottawa for 71 yards; it looks like he outplayed James Morgan who threw for only 31 yards and an interception. Has Desjardins at least played his way onto the practice roster, if not 3rd string on the active roster. I don't know that he would take a PR spot as he has prospects with a local law firm in Montreal.
