Chad or Nick
I just watched the latest episode of "Paper Plates." In case you're not aware, it's a podcast with Milt Stegall & Davis Sanchez. They conducted a poll with the
following questions: Should Kelly start when he returns from injury? Or should the Argos stick with Arbuckle moving forward. The results: Arbuckle73.1% Kelly26.9%
Stegall said he'd stay with Arbuckle, while Sanchez said he'd make the switch to Kelly. If Arbuckle is able to keep playing at this high a level (or close to it) I would keep him as the starter, irrespective of when Kelly would return. In the interview with Kelly I mentioned recently, he also said that a QB'S best friend is a running game. This makes what Arbuckle has been able to accomplish so far this season even more impressive. Who would you choose in this scenario?

As anxious as I am to see Kelly back as starter, I think that easing him back is the best way to go for continuity and Kelly’s confidence. Giving Kelly some select series would allow him to get back into the groove without the pressure of having to carry the team. So I would say Arbuckle right now with Kelly becoming the starter in a game or three.

How many good games has Arbuckle really played this season? Arbuckle can manage but he is not elite. If Argos were winning, you wouldn't want to mess with the mojo but they're fighting for their lives. I would start Kelly if in fact he is healthy and cleared.

Re: Chad or Nick
I would stick with Arbuckle for the year ... based on I think he is playing well and our place in the standing... Chad injury seemed really really bad to me ....I would sit him for the remainder of the year for health and safety reasons ... maybe only play him if we make or have late playoff run.... but thats just me.
also....its kind of good story....everyone wrote off Arbuckle including me ...he proved everyone wrong ... he is happy to be in CFL and an ARGO... seems like a good guy .... I definitely am cheering for him.... as its a remarkable comeback...

Eight or nine. His only bad games were game 1 vs. Mtl, game 2 vs. Cal and (arguably) game 6 vs. Mtl.ArgoGabe22 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 27, 2025 11:21 pm How many good games has Arbuckle really played this season?

1 for 5 in the red zone says you can add Edmonton to that list. Despite his red zone stats (TD/INT ratio), Argos are 8th of 9 teams in the red zone this year. He also had a turnover issue in the first 5 games, it can be argued that he really wasn’t good enough in those games.paulwoods13 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 28, 2025 7:55 amEight or nine. He also wasn’t good in the victory at Ottawa. Bailed out by the Slywka show.
I’m glad we have Arbuckle, but to me there is no question. If Kelly is deemed ready, he starts.
Re: Chad or Nick
It is a fair question, Arbuckle has competed hard and played very well at times, other times not so much.ArgoGabe22 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 27, 2025 11:21 pm How many good games has Arbuckle really played this season? In fairness the O-Line hasn’t been good for a chunk of the season which has rendered the run game pretty much useless which certainly doesn’t help any QB.
When Kelly is fully healthy and ready to go he is the starter.

Re: Chad or Nick
I liked Nick, the first time he was an Argo. Dinwiddie and he have a chemistry together that goes back to their days in Calgary together. Nick plays his best football under RD. He is without question the best back-up in the CFL and the little success the Argos have had this season is because of Nick. He won them a championship last year. If he were injured the Argonauts would be in very big trouble.
Chad Kelly is the starting QB of this team. He is an elite passer, has mobility, and makes everyone around him better. Passing game opens up, defensive pressure eases up to respect his running ability, rushing lanes open up, line play is better. He told you, playing man to man was a bad idea. He made them pay.

Re: Chad or Nick
This is bang-on. Kelly opens up more for the offence with his mobility and would make the o-line's job easier. Arbuckle has done everything you can ask for from a backup QB but Kelly should return to the starting role when he is deemed fit to do so.Scooter McCray wrote: ↑Thu Aug 28, 2025 10:57 am I liked Nick, the first time he was an Argo. I would also add that Kelly needs to play for his own development. He has only played 8 regular season and 2 playoff games since the end of 2023. He needs to play.

Chad.
If Arbuckle's fumble were not recovered by the Argos last game, there is a good chance we would not be having this conversation today.
