It's more of a reward for the fans already in the stadium. I dont believe this will attract new fans. For a couple of reasons; I dont anticipate ownership doing much to promote any and all of their theme nights, because they haven't in the past (same reason pride night has the same 15,000 as any other game - does the gay community much less any other community know the Argos exist?), and the other reason being $1 hot dogs will not create a stampede. $1 beer probably would however.
Having said that, if loving hot dogs is wrong, then I don't want to be right.

TICATS SUCK ! wrote: ↑Wed May 06, 2026 1:16 am So far, TFC's average attendance is 3rd lowest in a 30 team league, down 24.4% from last year's average (21,353). They haven't averaged less than 20K fans since 2013. I don't think we will outdraw them, as much as I would love to see that happen.
Well we won’t outdraw them now after they got 45k today. Gee, a Toronto team that draws around 16k brings in an aging superstar and suddenly they sell 45k, shouldn’t that tell us about the value of the marquee player rule? Especially in desperately wannabe Toronto?

It would instantly revive not just the Argos but the whole league if we signed, say, Aaron Rodgers. There’d be sellouts everywhere he played. Local news would give it blanket coverage. People love celebrity.

Some surely will counter with Ricky Williams, but that was 20 years ago, before social media gave superstars such massive impact. And besides, Rodgers is a bigger name and celebrity than Ricky ever was. And even at that, Ricky did move the needle at least a little bit.

The only problem is they’d somehow have to get Rodgers to stop saying all the stupid things he says.

The Argos could sign Rodgers, Tom Brady and Joe Montana as their 3 QBs and if next to nobody in the GTA knows or hears about it, then it won't do much to sell tickets.

Desperately hoping for some social media hype leading to celebrity worshipping $uckers flocking to buy Argo tickets? - maybe, but I'm not so sure.

MLSE forcing or bribing or strong-arming all Toronna media sports reporting outlets to feature Argo news, reports, photos, video - every single day from just before TC right up to first home game, then they might have something - even with just Chad Kelly at QB

When MLSE finally purchased the Argos, I was optimistic. If you live in Ontario, the majority of information you take in is from either Bell or Rogers. They have the power to change the perception of the CFL overnight.

They don't even have to advertise the game in the traditional sense. Just use at least one or two of your many platforms to simply talk about Canadian football once in a while in a way that acknowledges the historical and cultural significance it has.

That's all they have to do. Just take it seriously for once. They can't even be bothered to do that.

Nothing ever happens as fast as we would like but I think that there's a slow build happening with the Argos and they just have to stick to it. The fact that attendance stayed flat in a 5-13 season without their star starting QB was a positive sign, in my opinion. In the previous three seasons, we saw small but not insignificant upticks. If Chad Kelly plays the way he's capable of and the Argos can contend, I think we will see more growth again this year.

That's because, IMO, the type of clowns in charge of MLSE are the kind of sheep who were told/sold/taught that the CFL and Canadian football is not "world class" or "major league"; they would actually be embarrassed or afraid of being mocked by their fellow wannabes if they tried to really promote the Argos & Canadian football in the GTA. Exactly the types who look down on the CFL/Canadian football and think of it as inferior, ended up owning the Argos - a horrible, couldn't script it any worse, scenario happened - the CFL let it happen.

I have to agree with you there. The Buy Canadian trend started and two weeks later, the advertising for the NFL playoffs and the Superbowl was everywhere.

Two BMO hot dogs don't sit well, let alone many, many more.

I find them pretty good. I've definitely had worse.

The WWE theme night has had to be replaced. Wrestlers schedules unfortunately are not open for that game.

In its place MLSE are bringing in the original cast of the 1985 middling hit Breakin' 3 - For the Take of your Life. A bunch of down on their luck break dancers try to pull off a heist. Bugaloo Shrimp and the cast will reenact as much of the film as possible during halftime.

Should be good times.
