It seems evident that the Argos do not NEED to start a NAT at safety, so if Blackburn wins the job, he can be backed up by an INT without any roster consequences.
NAT starting there or not, be nice to have a good starting safety in the middle of the D; Blackburn has a year of CFL experience now, but not sure how many real safety reps he played last year, plus he was an all-star D-half in U Sports ball. An American deployed there, unless it is a guy with tons of CFL D-backfield experience, will be learning a foreign position. Maybe somebody at TC really steps-up to show they can handle that key spot.

Many Americans have learned to play the safety position. I'd argue DHB is actually a more challenging position to master for newbies to Cdn football.

Do we know what time the Double Blue game is scheduled for?
Usually 3 or 4 pm. I would suggest whatever time they announce to get their 45 minutes earlier to avoid what happened in 2023 when they started half hour before the time announced.
Hogan replied to me on X that that won’t happen again. This year, players warm up at 2:50pm and the “game” starts 3:45pm.
Thanks for that. I will get there for warm up...just to be safe...Plus it will be my first chance to get out there this year.

I will try to get there early as well. Dinwiddie marches to his own tune.

I thought that Watts dude had a shot based on some pre-season buzz and his resume, though his age (29) may have worked against him.

Well, 2 of my predicted impact players have been released very early, they being R Vincynt Smith and DE Isiah Chambers.

Argos have signed 2024 6th round pick OL Anim Dankwah after he spent last year on the Eagles (Philadelphia of the NFL) PR and have added DL Andre Carter from the suspended list. Also signed was LB Charles Brown.
In a corresponding move LB Billy Schaeffer has been released.

Any reports from camp today? I don’t think I saw one tweet online about anything other Hogan promoting the scrimmage.

Great afternoon for the scrimmage--sunny but mild temperatures.
Some random observations:
.All 3 QBs played--Arbuckle looked sharp--Dukes made a lot of long passes--Horn has a zip on his passes
. On the OL--Hunter was at Right Tackle, Moore at Left Tackle, Doxtater played at Guard. With so many excellent OL players, can the team keep them all? Could we see a trade with one of the OL involved?
.Some good O play and D play---Demus and McClain made some nice catches. Brissett out, with what looked like a minor injury, so Mayala got a fair amount of reps. The DBs made a number of good plays. Hood in particular showed flashes of excellent coverage.
For the first half of the scrimmage Slywka played at WR and in second half he played on defense at CB. He looked good in both positions. He made a nice interception but it was called back as D was offside. Not saying he will make the roster but his versatility should certainly help his cause.
There was a good crowd present. Just a suggestion --it would have been nice to have some type of announcement welcoming the fans and perhaps some explanations of what was going to happen during the session. Also at the end of the scrimmage an acknowledgement of the fans with a note appreciation for their attendance. But thank you for lineup sheets that were handed out, that made it much easier to follow the different players.
