I believe Crum has all the tools to become a top CFL QB, but it won't happen for another couple of years.

Watching Harris, Collaros, Fajardo and Arbuckle over the years, it seems to me most CFL QB's have to go through a considerable period of getting the snot kicked out of them before they can put it all together and perform at a top level. The Kellys and the pre-NFL Rourkes, who can come out of nowhere and play at a top level, are a rarity.

Crum is only 26.
Until he speeds up his release, he will never be a consistent starting QB. But can be a great #2.
All the other QB’s you mentioned have quick releases, and Collaros kicked but as a rookie in 2013 when Ray was injured.

Arbuckle looked great as a young Stamps QB, then faded to average to poor, and has now bounced back to looking like an excellent QB for the Argos.

Most young QBs need playing time to progress; some get repeat shots in the CFL while others either don't have it or don't get the repeat chances to progress.

Crum has a decent passing arm to go along with superior mobility / run threat; same deal for Tre Ford IMO; neither is going to be a CFL same old offence, pocket passer / short pass, check-down succcessful QB IMO; they need a HC / OC combo who get what that type of QB can bring and will design an offence to take advantage of their skill-sets; not sure that is going to happen anytime soon; unless some CFL "thinkers" maybe start looking at what those type of QBs are doing in the NFL now. A GOB might look at McGill QB E. Latendresse-Regimbald and see a 6-4 QB who can run like a deer and give him a shot; doesn't have to be as a starter candidate right away, but that type of QB as a change of pace back-up who might develop his passing further to be a good starter, would be nice to have in a team's QB stable - even as a different look guy when the O is struggling for a challenge to upset a defence. The recent horrid performance of a big pocket passer, but a limited, immobile, doesn't get the CFL game QB Morgan for the Als shows that CFL offensive thinkers don't get much other than same old offence and CFL defences are laughing and ready for those types.

Collaros had a tough go in 2016 and 2017, to the point where many people were predicting his career would be over.

Arbuckle was frequently criticized for being too slow.

It has nothing to do with the Redblacks or Crum, but I'm interested to see how Taylor Powell develops. His career seems to have stalled, with next to no playing time the past year and a half.

Yeah, his injury rejuvenated Bo after his benching last year. Bad timing for him. If Bo keeps playing like he has the last 25 or so games, Powell may need to move on, because don’t see Bo returning while performing. Having said that, if the Ti-Cats don’t make a strong playoff run, they may also decide the future is now and move on from Bo.

After slumping down the stretch last season, the Redblacks have been the first team eliminated from participating in the 2025 Grey Cup Tournament.

What the hell has happened to Dru Brown? He only seems to play well against the Argos

Brown outduelled Chris Streveler a couple weeks ago AV.

IMO, Crum has passed Dru Brown as the QB with a better CFL future. Listening to RedBlacks post game radio last night and plenty of call-ins seem to agree. Brown has been very good at times running Condell's simpleton short pass offence (with some very good receivers), but has limited QB skills - can't throw a good deep ball very often; very limited mobility and forces passes into coverage often. Some are still calling for Tyree Adams to get another shot to play QB for Ottawa - might make sense to give him a shot in the final few games (and why did they sign the mediocre Matthew Schlitz this off-season ???)

But it's still Condell that is THE huge problem in Ottawa (along with Dyce & Burke; and several radio callers saying they all need to go in a major house-cleaning - I agree, big-time). Vet RedBlacks radio host James Ellingson has commented over & over again about how basic and unimaginative Condell's offence is - short to medium passes - almost always with a receiver sitting down in a zone and hardly ever hit a receiver in stride downfield; no clue how to deploy a run game other than the typical "tendency breaker"; afraid to throw downfield for big chunk plays; almost never a RB screen or jet sweep type play (vet H-back Marco Dubois has produced huge plays for the RedBlacks in the past when used as a tight end releasing down field or as a fullback throw back / short pass, but I guess nobody on their coaching staff noticed? - why not go back to that type of surprise play even once a game?) And when Brown gets pulled last night after 3 terrible picks, they do nothing to take advantage of Crum's mobility - with roll-outs or a QB draw - in favor of same old Condell $hit (though they did have rookie receiver White burn a Rider DB to be open deep in the end-zone, and Crum just missed - so why not try going deep again?).

Condell is a classic same old / simpleton CFL OC of the "modern" CFL offence times - if he gets the boot in Ottawa, would not be at all surprised to see him CFL recycled somewhere in no time.
