Ottawa REDBLACKS

Re: Ottawa REDBLACKS
What a sad joke of a football team the RedBlacks are this year; dumb as a plank coaching and if ANY of these coaches are brought back next year, they deserve what they get, including shrinking crowds that are already at all-time low levels.
Some real football experts thought they must go with MBT to get their first win - how's that working out? Guy loses to the great Frosty at QB - just pathetic. Reinbold is a total moron as DC - playing with a weak pass rush D-line and 3 rookies in the D-backfield, he almost brought no blitz and sat back in soft zone to allow a young QB to complete a bunch of easy throws = it was embarrassing to watch.
Very sad to see any CFL team be so $hitty. Dinwid is a clown who needs to be punted out of town - but maybe they can't "afford" it.

Dinwiddie won't last next season if he decides Bryson Barnes will be the QB so not sure why he is repeatedly expressing an interest to get him some playing time. As is he is the worst short yardage specialist in the league.
Could be it's Dinwiddie the GM that is causing problems for Dinwiddie the Coach. Almost guaranteed they throw big money at Chad Kelly although they might do just as well with Cody Fajardo for less imo.

Re: Ottawa REDBLACKS
NO current CFL starting QB is going to want to go to Ottawa and join that clown/gong show led by Dinwid. There just is not enough money in the CFL anyhow to offer a guy million$ more than another team. I'm guessing a lot of CFL players like the prospect of play-off and GC bonus buck$ ?Don_from_Dryden wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2026 11:06 am Dinwiddie won't last next season if he decides Bryson Barnes will be the QB so not sure why he is repeatedly expressing an interest to get him some playing time. And anybody who thinks rolling with the mediocre Maier McCheese or an aging and often lame-o MBT as the starter there next season is in la la land IMO and does not get what the RedBlacks fan base would do - crowds under 10K (to rival the Argos) ? They are in total rebuild mode so I'd not only give Barnes a shot - end of this season, and next TC, but also bring in 3 more young QBs and have real TC competition; maybe retain one of MBT or Maier (which ever would come cheapest) if they except a 3rd string role and are considered decent young QB mentor types - if not, find another such. The Ottawa Rough Riders once went into TC with rookie QBs named Tom Clements & Condredge Holloway (and Canadian QB Bill Robinson, who by a lot of accounts was the best QB in TC) ... seemed to work out well, but maybe the QB /CFL experts of the time said: "OMG, you just can't do that" ?
Dinwid should be gone - punted way out of town; but there will be those who say he needs another season, or, they can't afford to get rid of him. Allrighty then. Lame. Good luck.
Re: Ottawa REDBLACKS
MBT’s comments regarding the lack of a plan heading into the second half of their game the other day not exactly a ringing endorsement of Dinwiddie’s coaching.
A complete mess in Ottawa!

GM, HC, OC, play caller can be a lot for one guy.ARGO57 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11, 2026 12:14 pm MBT’s comments regarding the lack of a plan heading into the second half of their game the other day not exactly a ringing endorsement of Dinwiddie’s coaching.

They still do have the streak though. May as well guarantee a loss for the last home game with the caveat a win would trigger a free ticket to next seasons home opener. I'm glad I'm not the guy on the phone trying to sell season renewals.

Re: Ottawa REDBLACKS
Bryson Barnes to start even though he probably won't be with the team next year.
Maybe the same for MBT after his "no plan" comments although I think he showed enough he could still play. If Winnipeg moves on from Collaros, MBT might fit well there.
I think Bobby Dice would have done a better job without the freedom Dinwiddie was given to sign players. Ottawa paying 5.10 to win this one.
Nick Arbuckle can do this and probably bears a small grudge over his treatment in Ottawa a few years back. Shame to sit Kelly though.

I would think the Argos would need to play Kelly in this game to keep him sharp. I wouldn't expect him to play much, if at all, next week.Don_from_Dryden wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2026 12:56 am Bryson Barnes to start even though he probably won't be with the team next year.

Where did you read that Arbuckle is starting & Kelly is sitting?Don_from_Dryden wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2026 12:56 am Bryson Barnes to start even though he probably won't be with the team next year.

Just speculation on my part they would avoid subjecting Kelly to potential injury.gilthethrill wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2026 5:03 amWhere did you read that Arbuckle is starting & Kelly is sitting?Don_from_Dryden wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2026 12:56 am Bryson Barnes to start even though he probably won't be with the team next year.

If the game is going to be a farce, I wouldn't mind seeing Tucker Horn play in an evaluation capacity as the RedBlacks are doing with Barnes.

Hey no need to apologize. Nothing wrong with speculation. I just thought I missed an article thats all.Don_from_Dryden wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2026 8:21 amJust speculation on my part they would avoid subjecting Kelly to potential injury.gilthethrill wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2026 5:03 amWhere did you read that Arbuckle is starting & Kelly is sitting?Don_from_Dryden wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2026 12:56 am Bryson Barnes to start even though he probably won't be with the team next year.
