Evidently I don't. Must be because I've been too busy monetizing all of my posts here.

Let's put it this way. If I didn't know better, I might think you deliberately made a ridiculously unfounded assertion purely to get a rise out your fellow posters. But I do know better.

OK Paul I owe you an apology. That was a jerk thing for me to say. I was fired up. However, other than the fact I am happy people are posting, I really don't have anything to gain getting a rise out of my brethren here.

This is a simple concept. I watched the guy play the worst quarter of football I have ever seen him play. It's the beginning of a new season. If that keeps up, it's a problem that will eventually be addressed. Every single person on this forum can tell me over and over again that he won the Grey Cup game two seasons ago, but it does little to temper my concern.

I really hope three things happen tomorrow. Arbuckle lights it up, proves me wrong and Will mails me a cheque for all of the ad revenue I generated in the last 36 hours.

I will leave it at that.

No apology needed. I just think it's not wise to assess a guy based on a single quarter of a preseason game against other teams' second-stringers (in a pounding rainstorm, albeit every player on the field faced that same condition). If we were to make such judgments, we could be demanding that Coxie (who dropped two extremely catchable balls) should be cut. Coaches obviously pay attention to PS games, but IMO their decisions are much more heavily weighted to what they see every day in camp.

We were also at the game, when Coxie dropped those passes I jokingly said to my son he should be cut and yes it was a miserable weather day.
It seems memories are very short when it comes to Arbuckle and what he means to this organization, having an experienced and more than capable backup QB is essential especially considering the severe injury Kelly is returning from.

I think most of us here thought that Kelly would play.

I thought so, too, but can see why he isn't given the o-line that will be in place.

Battle of the PBS Stars. Not many starters going. They are on a bye week, so those guys will get plenty of practice action. So where are the main battles for roster spots? Everyone is getting real playing time tomorrow.

By my count they are sitting 15 or 16 of 24 starters: Amos, Pickett, Mital, Priester, Kelly, Hendrix, Polk, Darkangelo, Nicastro, Kemp/Bland, Hunter, Shepley, Coxie, Herslow, Kongbo, Holley. Projected starters who are dressing are Franklin, McFadden, Judge, Chatfield and Ungerer. That leaves these starting positions up for grabs: one OT, safety and RB. (Actually two OT spots but I'm assuming either Kemp or Bland will be at LT when the season opens.) One DT spot seems to be between Hendrix and Toia but I presume both will make the team.

Almost every position (other than QB ahem) has uncertain backups.

I think Gauthier, John, McKenzie and Shand are likely to make the team, but tomorrow's game could make or break their chances.

Lots to be settled on the o-line -- who are the two starting tackles, and who are the two backups who will dress (I'm betting Vandal and Coakes to start the year, with Dankwah on IR). Bosse is likely on the bubble but might be kept if Dankwah's gonna be out long term. Olaniran might make it. Vreugdenhil seems to have disappeared off the roster.

Coxie dropping catchable passes in traffic is nothing new - wet weather or not; he should be used for passes well down the field, and rarely thrown to short IMO.

And the Argos brought young QBs into the league by the name of Collaros, Harris & Fajardo and IMO should continue to look far & wide for new, young QB talent; even if they have an established starter in Kelly and an "experienced" back-up like Arbuckle; I'll take young, higher potential talent over "experience" - at QB even - 90 some % of the time. Arbuckle might be fine for now as the oh so important experienced #2, but talented new QBs should be made room for; not sure I see either of Horn or Guercio being even close to a Collaros or Harris as a young gun who could oust a vet and maybe be a #2.

As far as the roster for the 2nd ex. game: at RB - did I miss news on draft pick I. Smith? - is he injured or gone? Liked the looks of Hicks last game and always liked Logan as a small back who could run between the tackles, but rather see a big power back as the main guy and supplemented by a smaller scat back type. Mombo unlikely to make game roster IMO - because of his passport plus later draft pick status.

Makonzo "retires" - WTF did he even sign in the first place ? A rookie safety in Wilson? (not going to be a rookie Canadian like John starting), but maybe Slwyka gets his job back or they could go with Blackburn and his "experience" ?
